Behind the Gram: @joshkjack

London is an incredibly photogenic city, regardless of what it is you’re shooting. There’s so much great architecture everywhere, so much great atmosphere and energy. From the steamy windows of Chinatown to the suit-filled streets of Bank, if you’re a street photographer in London, you can never possibly run out of subjects.

@joshkjack is a photographer who uses his Instagram feed to bring the stories of London and it’s people to life. Just from a simple scroll through his feed you can see he’s a master of his craft, who’s able to create a connection with the subjects almost effortlessly. Not only are the stories of both the people and London brought to your attention, but he manages to create a connection between the two in the photograph itself.

Through the use of incredible colours, great framing and his knowledge of light and shadows, @joshkjack has created a simply stunning feed of carefully selected photographs. In an Instagram full of thousands of amateur street photographers (myself included (incredibly amateur)), it can be hard to find someone who manages to bring their photography to life so simply as @joshkjack does.

Some of the photographs reflect a moodier side of London, perhaps, whilst others hold a fresh, more upbeat feel. All of them, however, share the same human feel. There’s something very authentic in their appeal. Unforced, natural.

There’s absolutely stunning examples of great work with reflection used in some of the images featured in the feed. Again, these show not only great aesthetic in the images, but they also go to prove the knowledge of the photographer in not only the areas he shoots in, but also in light, shadows and vision.

Even for those who aren’t necessarily huge lovers of street photography, this is a very easily appreciated feed, full of fantastic images.
